You may think you don’t use the AC compressor in the winter months, however, whether it’s 90 degrees or 12 degrees, the compressor within your vehicle is necessary, not only for comfort, but also for safety purposes. When your defrost is activated, the compressor also kicks on to eliminate the humidity in the vehicle and blow warm air onto the windshield and windows to break down the frost or layers of ice on your vehicle. Your heater core is what keeps the air warm when blowing them out of the vents and the defrost. A coolant leak is a major issue that could cause health concerns and should be taken care of immediately.
